Episode 18 of the Smoking Hot Confessions Podcast sees me head
to Port Macquarie for the Blues & BBQ Festival, or as it’s known in
the circuit, BBQ Wars. With 101 teams, not only was it the biggest
comp in the Southern Hemisphere, it was the biggest competition
ever outside of the US. What started out as a fun weekend away with
mates quickly evolved into something very unexpected…
The mates in question were Mark from Smartfire and Keith and Mick
from Because Brisket. We normally compete in our own teams, but
thought it would be fun to get together for a comp. Mark travelled
up from Melbourne, Keith and Mick from Newcastle and I came down
from the Gold Coast. We formed a brand new team ‘Smoking Hot
Smartfires’. Keep an eye on this name, as I’m sure this team will
be hitting the circuit a few more times in the near future!
